Mrs. McCormick: Teacher
My name is Kate McCormick and I believe that students are naturally great at solving problems that they face in school. Even though I want everyone to be happy and to get along, I feel that problems give students an opportunity to work together towards solutions. It is important to give children the space to come up with strategies to support each other in their school community. I have a wonderful class of Kid Helpers this year! I hope that you find their advice helpful and interesting.
Mrs. McHugh: Assistant Teacher
Hi there. My name is Mrs. McHugh and I am the teaching assistant in 4th grade with Mrs. McCormick and Mrs. Mello. I think all students want to learn and have fun in school. But sometimes they need help figuring out some of the social "stuff' that happens in 4th grade. I think this web page is a great way for students to figure out these issues with help from their peers. I hope you find Kid Helper helpful in figuring out 4th grade.
Mr. Butler: Guidance
Hello. My name is Eric Butler and I am a counselor at the Edgartown School. One of my jobs at the school is to help solve problems. To be a good problem solver, people need to be good listeners so they can understand all the sides to an issue. Once the problem is understood we can then work together to make a plan to resolve it. After a little while, we need to check back in to see if our plan is working or if we need to make changes to it. I am very excited to be a part of the 4th Grade's Kid Helper team!!
Mrs. DeBettencourt: Guidance
Hello. My name is Debbie DeBettencourt and I am a counselor at the Edgartown School. I enjoy helping kids and adults solve problems. Problem solving involves reflective listening, taking responsibility for your part of the problem, and a willingness to make changes that you have control over. Some problems are quickly fixed and others take months of practicing new behavior. I am very excited to be a part of the 4th Grade's Kid Helper team!!
